South Korea
China and South Korea have backed new UN sanctions against North Korea for its recent nuclear test and satellite launch.
Chinese nuclear envoy Wu Dawei together with South Korea’s foreign minister on Monday met in Seoul for talks with the latest nuclear advancements in North Korea also top of their agenda.
“The two countries have reached a unanimous agreement to support the new resolution of the UN Security Council on the DPRK for nuclear test and satellite launch. The two sides will work together to maintain the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and are committed to developing China-ROK strategic partnership,” said Hong Lei, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson.
This follows a draft presentation by the United States to the UN Security Council last week that will dramatically tighten restrictions on North Korea.

Wu also met with Hwang Joon-kook on Sunday who declared his support for the proposed new sanctions.
China recently agreed to the draft resolution after two months of negotiations with the United States.
The United States and China have put together the draft resolution that is expected to be circulated soon among the other U.N. Security Council members for review.
